SOLAR INSTALLATION
How Our Stockton Solar Company Can Help You
At SunMade® Energy, we make going solar simple, seamless, and stress-free, from your first quote to final inspection. It starts with a personalized consultation where we assess your home’s energy needs, roof condition, and sun exposure to design a system that is just right for you. Stockton’s billing setup has an extra layer worth understanding: PG&E owns the poles and wires and handles interconnection, but since 2025 Ava Community Energy has been the default electricity generation provider for Stockton, with the option to opt out and stay with PG&E generation. Your generation provider affects the generation portion of your bill and the credits you earn for exported power, so we confirm your setup before we model any savings. Once you approve your proposal, our in-house team handles everything, from permitting and utility paperwork to installation and system activation. We never use subcontractors, so every step is completed by licensed professionals who work directly for us.
Why Choose Our Stockton Solar Company
Know Your Providers
In Stockton, delivery and generation come from two different places. PG&E delivers your power and runs interconnection, while Ava Community Energy supplies generation by default unless you have opted out. Both pieces affect your bill and your export credits, so we verify them before designing anything.
Sun Exposure Matters
Direct sunlight helps maximize your system's efficiency. Shade from trees or nearby structures can affect performance, but our team will design the optimal solar panel layout for your home.
Roof Condition & Orientation
Your roof should be in good condition. South-facing slopes at a 15 to 40 degree pitch maximize production in the Central Valley, though we can install high-performing systems on a variety of roof types and slopes. Asphalt shingle, metal, and concrete tile all work well; wood shake and certain flat roofs need extra evaluation.
Check Your Electrical Panel
Many older homes have 100-amp panels that need upgrading to 200 amps before solar can be safely installed, since the National Electrical Code requires solar to connect through a dedicated circuit. We assess this during your consultation so there are no surprises later.
Long-Term Solar Savings
Solar panels offer the best return when you plan to stay in your home for at least two years. The longer you stay, the more you save on electricity bills.
Certified & Accredited
SunMade® is the Central Valley's first and only Diamond Certified roofing, solar, and electrical contractor, five years running, with a 98% Customer Loyalty and 100% Helpful Expertise rating. We are also CSLB triple certified, a Tesla Energy certified installer, GAF and Owens Corning certified, a FranklinWH certified installer, a member of the National Roofing Contractors Association, BBB accredited, and Forbes recommended.
OUR SERVICES
Everything Our Stockton Solar Company Does for Your Home
Solar Installation
Cut your electricity bills, increase your property value, and lock in long-term energy savings year after year. We design a custom system around your Stockton home's energy needs, roof condition, and sun exposure, then handle everything in-house from permitting and utility paperwork through installation and system activation. We use only premium, high-efficiency panels backed by industry-leading warranties, and every install is covered by our 25-year Solar Shield Warranty.

Home Battery Backup
Under California's NEM 3.0 policy, the value of solar exported to the grid dropped significantly, which means storing your own power is now where the savings live. Charge your battery during the day, then use that energy during peak rate hours instead of buying it back. A battery also keeps essential systems running automatically through outages and Public Safety Power Shutoff events, which San Joaquin County sees during high-wind, dry conditions. We are a certified installer for Tesla Powerwall 3, Enphase IQ Batteries, and FranklinWH whole-home backup.

Roofing
Your roof protects everything underneath it, so a replacement should give you decades of confidence, not just new shingles. As an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and a GAF Certified Roofing Contractor, we install premium roofing systems with extended manufacturer warranties that can cover materials and labor for up to 50 years. Yahoo! Local named SunMade® the Best Roofing Company in the Central Valley in its 2025 Best in the U.S. Awards, one of only 44 roofing companies selected nationwide.

Maintenance & Repairs
Protect the investment you have already made. Dust, pollen, bird droppings, and Central Valley air pollution can reduce panel efficiency by up to 25%, so we clean panels using safe, non-abrasive methods and spot-free deionized water. Our certified technicians repair all major solar brands including Enphase, SolarEdge, and Tesla, whether or not we installed your system, and our in-house crews handle roof repairs from emergency leaks to long-term wear.

FAQ
Have Any Questions?
How do I choose the right solar company in Stockton, CA?
Look at who actually performs the work and who stands behind it afterward. SunMade® uses no subcontractors, only licensed in-house crews handling solar, roofing, and electrical, and we hold all three CSLB licenses required for that kind of work. We are the only Diamond Certified® solar contractor based in the Central Valley, a certification that requires verified customer satisfaction, and our exclusive 25-year Solar Shield Warranty covers all workmanship and solar penetrations.
Who supplies my electricity in Stockton, PG&E or Ava Community Energy?
Both play a role. PG&E owns and maintains the distribution system, delivers your power, and handles solar interconnection. Ava Community Energy became the default generation provider for Stockton in 2025, though customers can opt out and return to PG&E generation. Because your generation provider affects the generation portion of your bill and your export credits, we confirm your setup before modeling savings.
How does net metering work for new solar customers in Stockton?
New solar customers in PG&E’s territory are on the Net Billing Tariff, approved by the California Public Utilities Commission and commonly called NEM 3.0. Power you export to the grid is credited at avoided cost rather than at the retail rate, which makes using your own production directly, and storing what you do not use, more valuable than it was under the previous rules. This applies whether your generation comes from PG&E or from Ava, because PG&E remains the distribution utility.
How much does it cost to install solar in Stockton?
Costs depend on your energy use and home layout. SunMade® offers free consultations to give you a clear, customized estimate, and we offer several financing paths including $0 down plans. We will also walk you through which incentives currently apply, since the federal picture changed on January 1, 2026.
Is the 30% federal solar tax credit still available?
Not for homeowners who purchase their own system. The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit under Section 25D cannot be claimed for expenditures made after December 31, 2025. The IRS treats an expenditure as made when the original installation is completed, so a system finished in 2026 does not qualify even if the contract was signed earlier. A separate federal credit still applies to third-party owned systems such as leases and PPAs, where the system owner claims it rather than the homeowner. Talk to your tax professional, and ask us how it affects the financing option you are considering.
Will going solar increase my property taxes in California?
Not if your system qualifies in time. California excludes an active solar energy system from property tax reassessment, and that exclusion becomes inoperative on January 1, 2027. Under SB 710, signed in October 2025, systems that qualify before that date keep the exclusion until the home changes ownership. Because permitting and utility interconnection take time, a Stockton project needs to start well ahead of the deadline to be complete and active in time.
Does a battery help during outages in Stockton?
Yes. A home battery detects an outage and keeps essential systems running automatically. San Joaquin County has seen Public Safety Power Shutoff events during high-wind, dry conditions, along with ordinary distribution outages, and backup capability is one of the most common reasons homeowners here add storage.
Will my electrical panel need an upgrade before solar?
What financing options does SunMade® offer?
SunMade® provides several financing choices, including $0 down plans, low-interest solar loans, cash purchase, and lease and PPA programs, to help make solar affordable for every homeowner.
Can I replace my roof and install solar at the same time?
Yes. SunMade® specializes in coordinating roof replacements and solar installations in one seamless project. It is more efficient, more cost-effective, and it ensures your new roof is solar-ready from day one.
